School Fundraising

At Les Landes, we are guided by our core value of community, encouraging our pupils to become compassionate individuals who understand the power of giving back. Our school community comes together regularly to support a wide range of charitable causes, both locally and globally, and we are proud of the impact we have made.

In 2025, we focused our fundraising efforts on supporting a number of incredible charities:

  • Children in Need: Helping children and young people in the UK who are facing disadvantage.
  • Save the Children: Providing vital aid and support to children around the world in times of crisis.
  • Just One Tree: Planting trees to combat climate change and promote a sustainable future.
  • Kafunjo Community Project: Supporting education and community development in rural Uganda.
  • Macmillan Jersey: Providing support and care for individuals and families affected by cancer in Jersey.
  • British Red Cross: Offering disaster relief and assisting communities in need across the globe.
  • JSPCA: protects and cares for animals across Jersey, promoting their welfare through rescue, rehabilitation, rehoming, and community education.
  • The Lovely Hearts now known as Village Rays School Cambodia: provides education, care, and support for children in rural communities, helping them access safe schooling, nutritious meals, and opportunities that promote long‑term wellbeing and development.

These initiatives reflect key principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), which protects and promotes the rights of children around the world. Through our fundraising efforts, pupils actively engage in supporting these rights and understanding how they apply in real‑life contexts, including:

Article 2 – Non‑Discrimination: We ensure that all children, regardless of background or circumstance, are supported and valued. Our fundraising for the British Red Cross and Lovely Hearts reinforces this principle by helping vulnerable children and families facing crisis, displacement, or hardship, ensuring that no child is left without care or compassion.

Article 3 – Best Interests of the Child: We work to promote the welfare of every child, both locally and globally. Supporting the JSPCA reflects our commitment to nurturing empathy, responsibility, and kindness—values that help children understand how caring for animals and the environment contributes to the wellbeing of their wider community.

Article 6 – Life, Survival, and Development: By contributing to the Kafunjo Community Project, our pupils help improve access to education, safety, and essential resources for children in rural Uganda. This support strengthens children’s opportunities for healthy development and a brighter future.

Article 24 – Health and Health Services: Our partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey aligns closely with this article, as it helps ensure that children and families affected by cancer receive vital health services, emotional support, and guidance during challenging times.

Through these initiatives, our pupils not only raise vital funds but also gain valuable lessons in empathy, teamwork, and social responsibility—qualities that reflect the spirit of the UNCRC.

Looking ahead to 2025, House Captains will be nominating new charities to support, and we are excited to see which causes will inspire them to make a difference in the year to come.

Thank you for being part of the Les Landes School community. Your support has helped us create positive change, and together, we will continue to make a lasting impact on the world around us.
