Makaton

Learning Makaton at Les Landes School

At Les Landes School, we believe every child deserves to feel heard, understood, and included. Learning Makaton supports this by combining signs, symbols, and speech to help all children communicate—especially those who may find spoken language more challenging. You’ll see Makaton used across our classrooms and shared spaces to support everyday routines, learning activities, and social interactions, helping to build confidence, independence, and a strong sense of belonging.

We are proud to have our own qualified Makaton trainer, Mrs Angela Betts, who leads staff training and helps us embed Makaton consistently and effectively across the school. Her expertise ensures that our use of Makaton is accurate, up to date, and tailored to the needs of our pupils. Through this commitment, Les Landes School continues to grow as a truly inclusive, communication-friendly environment where every voice matters.
