Maths
At Les Landes School, we want Maths to spark joy and encourage a life-long positive relationship with the subject. We aim to spark curiosity and excitement for maths learning while instilling confidence and knowledge in children. We want children to grow up with a deep understanding of mathematics and its role in the ever-changing world around us. Our curriculum is designed to be inclusive for all abilities and needs, providing support and challenge as required.
At Les Landes we believe all children should
· have a positive and resilient attitude towards mathematics and perceive themselves as ‘mathematicians’
· ensure pupils become competent and confident in the fundamentals of mathematics and develop conceptual knowledge
· ensure pupils can reason and problem solve mathematically
At Les Landes, we use the White Rose scheme of work to deliver the Jersey Mathematics curriculum. It teaches children mathematical concepts through the concrete, pictorial, abstract (CPA) approach in order to develop a deep and sustainable understanding, confidence and competence in Maths and improve fluency.
