A Brief History of Les Landes School
Les Landes School has been at the heart of the St Ouen community since its opening in 1904, when the original stone building welcomed its first pupils from the surrounding rural parish. The school has grown and modernised over the decades, yet many features of its early character remain woven into daily life — from the strong parish identity to the close relationships with local families, some of whom have seen several generations pass through its doors. Community links continue to thrive through partnerships with parish groups, local heritage organisations, and long‑standing traditions such as seasonal celebrations and outdoor learning connected to the nearby coastline and common. Although the school has evolved far beyond its 1904 beginnings, its roots in the St Ouen community remain a defining part of its story.
