Punctuality
12% of the school have been late at least once in the last two weeks. I appreciate routines get harder towards the end of a term, but it is important that your child is ready to start their day with the rest of their class. The gate opens at 08:30 and closes at 08:45; after this time you will need to sign your child in at the office. Next week, we will be contacting families who continue to be late so that we can support you with a plan for punctuality. Thank you.
Pop in - Tuesday 21st April 3-4pm
This is an opportunity for your child to share their learning with you and for you to look through their books. On this day, we won't do the pilot pick up; we would like to request that parents park up and collect children from their classsrooms, even if you are not able to stay. We will open the playground for parking.
Parking feedback
Thank you for your support over the last month as we have tried the new system. From a school perspective, a priority was to increase safety, but also to alleviate the congestion and challenge of limited parking. As a staff we have worked to refine it and your compliance has been hugely appreciated. We have managed to get every child collected by 3.15pm, which was another important consideration. Having run the trial for 4 weeks, we would like your feedback. Once this has been analysed we will get back to you. A couple of things we would like to request:
Please do not overtake a parked vehicle at the point where children are getting in. This disrupts the order in which we send children along the pavement to waiting adults.
If you have someone else collecting, e.g. grandparent, please explain the system to them.
If you are coming into school, eg for karate, please park in Rue du Sud only.
Next Wednesday 25th March, the UK assessor will be judging our inclusive provision and she will be spending the day in school meeting staff and children, observing lessons and looking at documentation. Part of the assessment includes parent voice and we would like to invite any parents who would be prepared to meet with her to let the office know. Thank you.
Jersey Eisteddfod (2D Painting)
The entries from your school received 1 Platinum, 3 Gold, 8 Silver and 1 Bronze certificates. The adjudicator commented 'What a lovely colourful board of interesting and individual work. It shows how your children experience a range of techniques and topics across the years, including digital work and printmaking'. Well done to all children whose pieces were entered, to Mrs Price for leading Art across the school, and to Mrs Courtness for maganing toe Eisteddfod requirements.
French Eisteddfod success!
22 children from Y5 and Y6 entered a number of classes including duologue, jeu de role, solo and duet. Y5 won the Pat Le Breton Trophy for their own choice song, darcy, Evaney and Elsie won their 'jeu do role' class, Seren won the trophy in her individual solo class and the duo class with Lana. All our entrants were awarded either gold or platinum certificates. This is a testament to their commitment and enthusiasm for French - and to Mrs Price's teaching!
Les Landes Tea Towels
Every child has contributed by drawing their face and writing their name and the tea towel captures our school community in 2026. They cost £5 each and orders can be placed on ParentPay by the end of term, 1st April. Huge thanks to Izzy James who has coordinated this. The money raised will support the school.
Decorate an egg for Easter
We will be offering the children the chance to enter a 'decorate an egg' competition. Entries can be brought to school for judging on Tuesday 31st March. There will be a prize for each class and a family entry prize too. Here are some entries from last year for inspiration! Entry via ParentPay please.
Les Quennevais' Reading Ambassadors met our librarians and School Council to discuss ways in which we can encourage reading for pleasure. We have made a plan to visit Les Quennevais next term.
