Thank you for supporting the children in getting back into the flow of school. The start of the term has been a very positive one and the snow was certainly a surprise! We have had an assembly about diversity as well as a discussion on what being happy means, Y4 have started learning the violin, the clubs are starting again, including Y6 leading clubs for other classes and we have begun the selection process for new house charities. We have also welcomed new children into Y3 and Y5. This term sees another cross country event, the De Putron competition, the Swimarathon and more off site visits.
Last term, we know our communication around sports fixtures in particular wasn't as good as it could be. From now, please use ParentPay to give permission and sign up to events. We have 97% of the school signed up now on this and it should help us all to keep on top of things. You will receive an email from Mrs Wiseman to let you know that there is something on ParentPay awaiting your consent. This is the preferred method of payment for any events and activities, too.
New Forest Parenting opportunity
UNCRC Article #3, 5, 12, 23, 28 & 29
Emma Le Monnier, our Pastoral Lead, has now completed her training on delivering the New Forest Parenting Programme and will be starting to run small groups of up to 8 parents at school this term. The New Forest Parenting Programme is evidence based and runs for six weeks to support parents of children who have a diagnosis of ADHD or who have ADHD type characteristics. It provides information regarding ADHD, gives strategies to support your child to build their skills and manage difficulties. To express an interest in attending a group, please email e.lemonnier@leslandes.sch.je by the 17th January and Emma will let you know about availability in due course.

The Year 6 House captains have shortlisted their charities and are preparing presentations to share with their house. In the next fortnight, every child will vote for their preferred house charity. Each year we select two local, one national and one international charity. The shortlisted charities are:
L'Etacq - Macmillan Cancer Jersey Support, Jersey Marine Conservation, Jersey Beekeeper Association
Plemont - Healing Waves, Littlefeet Environmental, Dementia Jersey
Grosnez - Cancer Research UK, British heart Foundation, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home
Les Mielles - Red Cross, Sight Savers, UNICEF
Roadworks
In the coming weeks there will be a road closure on Route De Vinchelez. This will include a one way system, but should not affect the school too much. As a reminder, please do not leave your car unattended on the drop off zone. Please use our unofficial one way system so that cars are not travelling in both directions past the school gate.
Etana and Poppy, Rights Respecting ambassadors, shared information about Save the Children. We are raising money for this charity on Christmas Jumper Day.
