Y4 has been shortlisted for a Young Hero (es) of the Year award in the DIFERA (Diversity, Inclusion, Fairness, Equality, Respect and Acceptance) awards next week. This is to recognise their work to support inclusion in their class, across the school and beyond our school. It's a fantastic achievement and we are very proud of the children. The Y4 signing choir will also be signing with the choir from St Clement's School at the launch of the CYPES Inclusion Charter next month.
Inclusion Quality Mark
We are submitting evidence to be assessed for this national award. The award recognises our inclusion practice in our ethos, leadership, teaching, curriculum, assessment, with parents and the wider community. There is a section for parents and families and I may send a survey to support the evidence we collate. We submit the evidence and an assessor will visit the school before Easter to validate our judgements.
Coming up...Safer Internet Day - 6th February
Our assembly next week will focus on this important topic, with input from our Digital Leaders and there will be lessons in every class. Here is a useful link, as well as a link to our parent resource from Mr Le Meur.
Thank you for showing an interest, the first course is now full! We will offer it again and will keep a wait list.
Football congratulations
Each school nominates players to be considered for the team who represents Jersey Primary Schools’ FA U’11 (Year 6) ‘A’ squad for the 2024 season. Mr Gallichan put forward three of our players and we would like to congratulate all three on reaching the final stage of this year’s trial for the Year 6 schools’ representative side. Teijo, Luca and Charlie conducted themselves excellently throughout the trials and played very well. The standard of players in this year’s trial was very high, which made selection a difficult process for the coaches.
Girls' Football opportunity
St Ouens Football Club are starting a girls' football team, training on Saturdays for year 3/4 12.30-13.30.They are asking anyone who might be interested to get in touch via email or WhatsApp for further information.
Thank you for your suggestions and offers to help find a solution. Although I originally suggested a meeting date next week, I would like to hold off for another week or so. This will give me more time to meet with other primary schools and CYPES. Please let Mrs Wiseman know if you'd like to join a small working party.
Funeral in St George's Church
There is a funeral next Monday 29th January at 2pm. The staff will be parking on the field and the mourners will be using the playground as an overflow. We have been assured that they will be finished before 3pm so that we can have a safe dismissal, but please be mindful on this day that parking may be (even more) challenging.
Dementia Jersey
Daniel De Heaume from the charity Dementia Jersey led an assembly this week. His presentation explored what dementia is, what it might look like and how they can support. We have added the Powerpoint to the website:
Etana and Poppy, Rights Respecting ambassadors, shared information about Save the Children. We are raising money for this charity on Christmas Jumper Day.
