Incusion Quality Mark (IQM) with Centre of Excellence Status

UNCRC Article#3, 6, 12, 23, 27, 28, 29

Les Landes is the first Government of Jersey primary school to be awarded the IQM in recognition of our inclusive practice. The summary report highlighted the strong practice in the school and concluded:

Les Landes shares its inclusive ethos from the minute you enter the school site. The school's leadership is confident and purposeful and all adults working in the school are kind and nurturing. Families are well-supported, and this highly personalised support is acknowledged by the families themselves. Need is met well across the school and pupils with significant and complex needs are supported alongside their peers in a way that is personalised and inclusive. Communication with all parents is strong and focused and challenge is accepted. The school has implemented a curriculum which is creative, motivating, broad and challenging and underpins the school's inclusive ethos.  Oracy and Reading is at the heart of the curriculum and Quality First Teaching is at the forefront of all provision.

You would find it hard to find a happier place than Les Landes.

Thank you to the children, staff, parents and wider community who work tirelessly for our school. This is such a significant achievement for us all!

Uniform supplier

JSSK closes on Saturday 4th May and they will be continuing their sale until then. I can now confirm that our uniform will be supplied locally by Lyndale Sports and I have signed a Service Level Agreement with them. They won't have space to store uniform, but sizes can be checked against uniform we hold in school. Orders will be online and can be collected or delivered to school. This provision was the preferential option compared to UK suppliers. We do not intend to change uniform at this time, and the phasing out of the old tracksuits continues to be fine.

Disco

We will holds a sunset disco for all classes on the field on Thursday 23rd May from 5.30-7pm. Tickets will be available nearer the time and should be purchased via Parentpay.

Parent Consultations

UNCRC article #5

These will be offered to all parents in Reception to Year 5on 11th and 13th June.  Y6 will receive their annual report this term. We will let you know in advance of the appointments going live.

Cycling Crocodile

Save the date! Sunday 19th May we will be taking part in the launch of Alternative Transport Week to launch a week when we will be encouraging alternative transport all week.  There is a family ride out in town on this day, and we would like as many of us as possible to support. We plan to ride down  from St Ouen to the start as a group, with a pick up location along the way for younger riders. Route to follow!

Polite reminders

Parents are not permitted to park in the church car park, the spaces are reserved for staff only, by agreement with the church.

The field will be closed after school on Mondays and Tuesdays until 4pm in the summer term as Brazilian Soccer hires the space and the school makes a small income from this. Mr Hill will close the gate so that the club can have the space.

Although we keep the site open after school, the school building is closed and therefore not accessible after 3.15. Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you

Thank you to Mr Jones, Mr Manners and the rest of the Standard Bank team who helped Mr Hill last week in the garden.  His workshop has been replaced and the garden is getting there. It's a lot of work to get it back to where it was, but Rome wasn't built in a day!

Summer Fayre

At the last Parent Forum, there was support for a Summer Fayre this year and we are proposing Friday 12th July. Nearer the time, we will hold a planning meeting and can go from there.
