Cycling Crocodile Alternative Transport Week Ride Out

UNCRC Article#24

Sunday 19th May.

To launch Alternative Transport Week, there will be a ride out from the Royal Square to Millenium Park, at 11am. All families are welcome to join us, even if you haven't ridden with the crocodile before. All we ask is that children ride bikes without stabilisers (no scooters).

We will leave the meeting point of St Ouen's Parish Hall at 9am prompt. There will be a meeting point at 9.45am at the duck pond in St Peter's Valley.

The official ride out will go from the Royal Square at 11am to Millemium Park and our ride will end there at approx. 11.30 where there are stalls etc.

If your child is in Y5 or Y6 and has achieved L2 Bikeability, they are welcome to join us without an adult and you can meet them at Millemium Park.

We want to ensure that every rider is insured, and will require £1 per participant, for cover with British Cycling (ParentPay). Everyone will be required to wear a high visibility vest and helmet.  Children can collect vests from school and we have spare adult ones if you don't have one.

We are the only school with a Cycling Crocodile; it's a defining feature of our school and we are very proud of it. Please support us if you can.

All details and sign up via ParentPay by Wednesday 15th May.

Disco

We will holds a sunset disco for all classes on the field on Thursday 23rd May from 5.30-7pm. Tickets are available now via Parentpay. This time, we are offering watermelon in addition to sweets and chocolate.  Children can bring their own water bottles. Children will be dropped to and dismissed from classes at 7pm.

One of our parents is currently being treated for Lymphoma, a blood cancer. Eve Mann, Sukey's mum, has offered to talk to Y2-6 to explain where the fundraising money goes and to emphasise that research and medicine means that her prognosis is extremely positive.

Parent Consultations

UNCRC article #5

These will be offered to all parents in Reception to Year 5 on 11th and 13th June.  (Y6 will receive their annual report this term).

The booking system will go live at 9am on Monday 20th May.

Staff update

Ms Oxenden has accepted a year's secondment to Mont a L'Abbe School and transferred there last week. Staff are employed by the Government of Jersey, not by individual schools, and these opportunities allow schools to meet the needs of their communities. Ms Oxenden's ELSA qualification and her previous experience of working with children with complex needs is needed there and we are happy to support this - they are all our children.

Hautlieu Leavers

UNCRC Article#29

Congratulations to Poppy Parker, Jade Kevany, Claudia Kemp and Milly Benest who all received awards in the Hautlieu Y13 Leaver Awards this week. These girls all left Les Landes in 2017, and will always belong to our school community.
