After School Club potential

We are exploring the potential of an after school club. This would be an external provider, (details below). Before we pursue the idea, we would like to gauge interest.  Please can you complete this survey by 16th May.

Jersey Babysitting is a well established local Child Care agency and owned by Angela Coppock (Registered Childminder), a familiar face for many at Les Landes.  Together with her team of professionals she provides child care to all families. They are highly committed to providing the best care and play opportunities for all children. The provision would be managed by Ang and Lucy Carro through ‘Jersey Babysitting’ and registered with CEYS.

Victoria College presentation on online safety

The safeguarding team at Victoria College will share their presentation on the topic of online safety on Wednesday 7th May, something which has been well-received at a number of other primary schools.  It is a hard-hitting presentation, but one we feel is important to share if we are to work together to keep children safe online. This presentation will replace the session we have timetabled and will still start at 6pm.  We encourage as many of you as possible to attend (sign up on ParentPay).

Online safety workshops for parents

UNCRC Article 5,8

Following the Victoria College presentation, we will have more opportunities for you to learn about online safety and consider what strategies might work for your family.  We want these to be interactive and solution-focused so that you leave with practical strategies.

Grow a sunflower

As a gesture of thanks to the children for supporting our fundraising so far this year, we are giving each child a sunflower seed to grow at home. The children will bring these home next week, in an envelope with an instruction poem. Later this term, we will invite families to measure the sunflower and send in a photo so that we can share the success.  Good luck!

Bake Sale

Molly and Elsie's bake sale at the start of the holidays was amazing and attended by so many families. Their effort (alongside Jake's cake sale at motocross) raised a massive £617 for Kafunjo and Macmillan Jersey. This really is our core value of Community in action!

Pop in date

Don't forget, you are invited to your child's class between 2.30-3.30 on Tuesday 6th May so that they can share the learning in their books with you.

Staff vacancies

Congratulations to Miss Roberts and Mrs Hibbs, who are both expecting babies in October. We will be advertising fixed term replacements for the academic year 2025-26 and both will return after their parental leave.

Vistra Kids Triathlon (Y2-Y6)

In the next fortnight, Eve Mann (Sukey's mum) will talk to the children about why raising money for blood cancer matters. Eve is in remission from this and has a very positive outlook and is proactive about making a difference.  Our school has supported this event so well over the past few years and we are hoping for a large turn-out. Bon Voyage Y6!

On Monday 28th, Y6 will be flying to the UK to enjoy their 5 day residential at the PGL in Osmington Bay, Dorset. During the week they will take part in a number of activities including raft building, abseiling and rifle shooting. We are hoping the sun shines, they challenge themselves, have fun and create lasting memories in their last term at Les Landes. For your information, Mrs Charlesworth, Mrs Hibbs and Mrs Betts will be accompanying them and therefore not in school this week.
