We would like to invite parents to an Internet safety session on Tuesday 6th June at 6pm.
The session will focus on practical tips to help both adults and children use different types of technology from tablets, mobile phones, games consoles and smart speakers to access the internet and World Wide Web safely and smartly.
In preparation for this we have conducted pupil surveys, but to have the fullest picture, we would like your input. Please can you take a few minutes to answer this brief survey so that we can tailor the event to need.
Thank you for your overwhelming support this week. As the primary school with the largest geographical catchment, families have embraced the opportunity to travel in an alternative way. We have had skateboards, scooters and even a horse! Parking at Plemont and walking has also reduced the number of cars near the school.
If you would like to join the Cycling Crocodile, Y3 can join without an adult. Children in KS1 can join unaccompanied as long as they have done one ride accompanied so that we can check they are competent riders. This is at the discretion of the leaders.
We are going to continue the house challenge until July, albeit with less intensity; even one day every so often is an achievement.
We appreciate that the road diversions have not helped, but please be mindful of cyclists if you are driving through the lanes, particularly as hedges are overgrown at the moment.
School Walk
This year, the school walk will take place in September. This will help the many children who suffer with hay fever, as the pollen count will be much lower.
Pay 360
Farewell to Pay 360! The company is no longer providing this service. At the start of June, you will receive information regarding our new provider, Parent Pay. This is the same payment portal used by Les Quennevais School.
Netball Club Y4 and Y5
Caren Yates (Ivy's mum) is a qualified netball umpire and netball player. She has volunteered to take on our netball, starting with a club on Tuesdays 3-4pm for Y4 and Y5. If you would like your child to attend, please email Mrs Wiseman. The first session will be Tuesday 6th June. We are very appreciative of this support! If you would like to support Mrs Yates with the running of these sessions, please let us know.
Play equipment
As you may have noticed, the trim trail on the field outside KS2 needs replacing. We are in the process of receiving quotes for the installation of the pieces we have selected, and will update you once we have a better idea of how much we need.
Vistra Kids' Triathlon
We would like to encourage children to sign up for this event, on Saturday 10th June, raisin money for Blood Cancer Uk (Jersey branch). The entry form is here:
Last year, we won the trophy for the largest number of entrants.
Summer Fayre
Unfortunately we do not have enough support to run this next month. We appreciate it's not easy to commit to events like this and maybe every two years is more realistic for us. At the next Parent Forum, we can discuss a longer term plan.
Inclusion accreditation
We are working with Liberate Jersey to deliver a day of lessons focusing on diversity, inclusion, fairness, equality, respect and acceptance (DIFERA). We piloted this work in 2020 and the content has been updated. We are holding a training day on Monday 12th June for a team of staff and children and we would like a parent to join the group. If you are interested, please contact Mrs Wiseman. Following the training day, the whole school day will be on Monday 26th June. Each class will have a focus and nearer the time I will share details with you so that you have the opportunity to ask questions.
